Dr Renier van Aardt &
Mrs. Carina van Aardt

In 1993, Dr. van Aardt and his wife Carina, an aesthetician with a diploma in mercantile law and financial accounting, made the decision to immigrate with their two young children to Atlantic Canada. His surgery and anaesthesiology skills came in handy in remote parts of Newfoundland, where he was Chief of Staff at Twillingate Hospital. After a few years and one more child, Nova Scotia called and Dr. van Aardt moved his family to Yarmouth to operate a very busy rural practice and do several shifts a month in the local hospital ER. A fourth child followed, and the family was ready for a change of pace.

One day in 1999, a little card arrived in the mail that said “Add laser to your practice.” After some soul-searching, Renier and Carina took a trip to Toronto to learn more. There, they met Dr. Mark Lupin, world-renowned dermatologist and expert lecturer in the field of non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Now they live their dream at the Truro Medi Spa here in the town of Truro in Nova Scotia. Aundrea Ritchie, RN

Aundrea Richie started working with Dr Van Aardt in 2011 and has over a decade of experience and knowledge in health care. Aundrea’s passion for non-surgical cosmetic medicine has grown into a blossoming business, Aundrea Nurse Incorporated, and fueled her desire to be a specialist and leader in the medical aesthetics industry and she continues to develop her expertise. Melissa Brabant, RN

With over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry, first as a stylist and salon owner, then as a registered nurse, Melissa Brabant, compliments our medical team with a strong creative flare and business sense. Melissa brings her artistic eye, caring approach, and love of nursing to every client, improving their self-confidence and making them feel safe and comfortable. Jackie Cock

Jackie became a valuable member of Dr. Renier van Aardt’s Medical Spa professional team in 2006, assuming the role of accounting administrator. With over two decades of experience in administration and accounting, she has consistently evolved within our organization, currently holding the position of Director of Finances. Jackie possesses a notable talent for assisting our staff with their payroll and tax matters, ensuring that they maintain a comprehensive understanding of these crucial aspects of their employment.

Throughout her time with our company, Jackie has earned the admiration and respect of her colleagues for her expertise in all facets of accounting. Despite her roots in Nova Scotia, Jackie and her family chose to return to Alberta in 2017. Thanks to the support of our administrative team, she has seamlessly transitioned to a virtual work arrangement while remaining an integral part of the Truro Medi-Spa team. Jackie’s contributions and expertise continue to be invaluable to all of us here in Truro.

Vanessa Hutt

Born and raised in Truro, Vanessa, our Clinic Leader at Truro Medi-Spa since July 2023, consistently exceeds our expectations. Her 20 years in customer service shine in her remarkable role, ensuring seamless clinic operations with grace—from managing appointments to addressing Google reviews. Vanessa, a visionary leader, guides staff to their utmost potential, overseeing recruitment, training, and daily clinic inspections. Beyond administrative tasks, her financial stewardship includes budget oversight, astute product recommendations, and meticulous inventory control, ensuring compliance with regulations. Vanessa’s dedication to upholding protocols, coupled with her operational and leadership skills, is instrumental in our continued success. We’re privileged to have her steer our team.

In her free time, Vanessa enjoys moments with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.

Telsie Ross

Telsie, a devoted Master Clinical Aesthetician, became an invaluable member of our team in 2018. Her journey in the field of aesthetics commenced during her high school years in grade 10 and 12 when she shadowed at the Spa, igniting a profound passion that continues to burn fervently to this day.

Telsie has played a pivotal role in expanding our service offerings at the Medi-Spa. She enjoys a stellar reputation among both our staff and clients, owing to her exceptional skills and warm, welcoming personality. Her unwavering commitment to her craft is evident in her ever-expanding array of Clinical services, which presently encompass Clinical Skin Care, Medical Microneedling, Laser Hair Removal, and Body Contouring.
