Dr Renier van Aardt &
Mrs. Carina van Aardt
In 1993, Dr. van Aardt and his wife Carina, an aesthetician with a diploma in mercantile law and financial accounting, made the decision to immigrate with their two young children to Atlantic Canada. His surgery and anaesthesiology skills came in handy in remote parts of Newfoundland, where he was Chief of Staff at Twillingate Hospital. After a few years and one more child, Nova Scotia called and Dr. van Aardt moved his family to Yarmouth to operate a very busy rural practice and do several shifts a month in the local hospital ER. A fourth child followed, and the family was ready for a change of pace.
One day in 1999, a little card arrived in the mail that said “Add laser to your practice.” After some soul-searching, Renier and Carina took a trip to Toronto to learn more. There, they met Dr. Mark Lupin, world-renowned dermatologist and expert lecturer in the field of non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Now they live their dream at the Truro Medi Spa here in the town of Truro in Nova Scotia. Aundrea Ritchie, RN
Aundrea Richie started working with Dr Van Aardt in 2011 and has over a decade of experience and knowledge in health care. Aundrea’s passion for non-surgical cosmetic medicine has grown into a blossoming business, Aundrea Nurse Incorporated, and fueled her desire to be a specialist and leader in the medical aesthetics industry and she continues to develop her expertise. Melissa Brabant, RN
With over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry, first as a stylist and salon owner, then as a registered nurse, Melissa Brabant, compliments our medical team with a strong creative flare and business sense. Melissa brings her artistic eye, caring approach, and love of nursing to every client, improving their self-confidence and making them feel safe and comfortable. Jackie Cock
Jackie joined the professional team at Dr. Renier van Aardt’s Medical Spa in 2006, holding the position of accounting administrator. She has 20+ years of administration / accounting experience.
Being from Nova Scotia but spending many years in Alberta, her family decided to move back to Alberta in 2017. With the great help from the admin staff in the office, Jackie is able to still perform the duties of accounting virtually and be part of the Truro Medi-Spa team. Jackie is still a valuable asset for all of us here in Truro.
Amy Trowsdale
Amy has been a valuable asset of Dr. van Aardt’s team here at the Truro Medi-Spa since 2010 and as our Office Coordinator and Lead Receptionist she has been keeping the spa running smoothly and efficiently while greeting everyone who enters with her beautiful smile. With many years of customer service experience, she can easily address any clients needs and set them in the right direction. Amy’s sweet and pleasant personality will help ensure all of your experiences at the Truro Medi-Spa are pleasurable ones!
Kim MacKenzie
Kim joined the Truro Medi-Spa administration team as a receptionist in 2018 and quickly became a valued staff member. She is friendly and knowledgably regarding all procedures and policies here at our medi spa. Kim is always ready to assist both our clients and our staff with whatever they may need. Kim’s caring and relaxed demeanour will put you at ease the moment you enter our beautiful spa.
Lindsay Merriam
Lindsay has been working with the Truro Medi Spa team since 2010 and she is a Master Clinical Aesthetician and Laser Technician. Lindsay offers a wide range of Clinical Aesthetics including thorough Skin consultations, Laser treatments such as IPL Photorejuventaion. Permanent laser hair removal, Pixel, ND Yag and Q-Switch. Clinical Skin Care, Lash extensions, Microblading, Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels and RF Skin Tightening! Lindsay’s many years of experience allow her to deliver to you a higher level of knowledge and service.
Lindsay also assists the Nurse Injector – Aundrea Richie RN, putting her clients at ease and adding clinical recommendations to complement their treatment plans. Staying up to date with seminars, workshops and new training on a regular basis, Lindsay is proud to offer you the best services possible at the Truro Medi-Spa.
Kimberlee Wentzell
Kim, who joined the Truro Medi-Spa in 2014, is a Master Clinical Aesthetician and Laser Technician. Kim offers a wide range of both Spa and Clinical services including: Radio Frequency Skin Tightening, Microneedling, Laser Treatments (IPL Photorejuventaion, Permanent Hair Removal. Pixel ND Yag and Q-Switch), Dermaplaning, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, Lash Lifts, Skin Consultations and much more. Kim enjoys doing in-dept consultations with her clients, creating multi-level treatment programs utilizing a combination of Aesthetic, Clinical and Medical treatments to best address the clients concerns. Kim is very knowledgeable and updates her skills on a regular basis. With her easy going and helpful personality she will ensure you get the best value out of your experiences at the medi spa.
Ceanna Mardian
Ceanna, a Master Clinical Aesthetician and Laser Technician, joined our team in 2016. She offers a broad range of services such as Clinical Skin Care, Laser treatments, Lash extensions, Dermaplaning, Microdermabrasion, Lash Lifts and Lash Extensions. Ceanna is also our official Acne Detective with a MBK Acne Detective Specialist certification and will be able to assist clients with very specific acne problems. Ceanna is detailed and take pride in her work, putting her clients at ease and helping them during their top-quality service here at the medi spa.
Telsie Ross
Telsie is a Master Clinical Aesthetician and a Certified Pedologist. Telsie joined the medi spa team in 2018. Telsie shadowed with the Spa in grade 10 and 12 piquing her interest in aesthetics and her passion still burns strong. Telsie recently completed her Clinical Training and continues to grow her service list at the medi spa as well. She is a great asset to our team and is loved by staff and clients alike. As our foot care expert, she will be able to assist any client’s questions and queries regarding wellness for the correct care their feet. Telsie loves the changes and improvements she is able to achieve for her clients and is very dedicated to your comfort here at the medi spa. Telsie is sweet and capable and will ensure your experience at the Truro Medi-Spa is an exceptionally pleasant one.
