Vein and Pigment Removal

Vein and Pigment Removal

What they can do for you
Using lasers, we can help remove:

  • birthmarks and “port wine” stains
  • age spots
  • broken capillaries and spider veins
  • small to medium visible veins

What’s more, lasers are a safe and effective non-surgical treatment for these conditions on any area of the body.

How they work

One example is intense pulsed light (IPL) IPL, which we often use to remove fine veins or matted areas. IPL can improve the large number of tiny dilated capillaries that create the redness typical of matting, improving the complexion.

IPL is directed over the affected blood vessels, causing them to coagulate and then be absorbed by your body. Most veins treated this way disappear within two or three treatments. Occasionally, one or two additional treatments may be required. If so, those treatments are spaced between 2 – 8 weeks apart.

Port wine stains and birthmarks can also be treated using photo rejuvenation, a process that uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and a number of lasers (Pixel, Q-switched, KTP, ND-Yag).

Meeting your needs

IPL (intense pulsed light) and ND Yag laser is used for small to medium visible veins on any area of the body. This treatment is mostly used for leg veins.

Our lasers treatments are not appropriate for treating large veins or varicose veins. In that case, Dr. van Aardt will provide you with an appropriate referral. If you’re unsure, you can schedule a physician’s consultation with him.

You may be a candidate for Sclerotherapy – an irritant injected into large veins – or for Endo-Venous Laser treatment, a revolutionary method for treating large, deep, bulging veins. In this case, Dr van Aardt will refer you to a vein specialist.
