How it works

Laser hair removal works by heating and damaging the hair follicle, impairing its ability to produce hair.

At our medi-spa, we use medical standard Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for permanent hair reduction. IPL is widely accepted as one of the most effective and versatile permanent hair reduction treatments available.

Since we target the follicle of the hair with the IPL, the hair root must be intact for IPL to be effective.

In some cases, you may need to wait some time to be a good candidate:

• if tanned, wait 4-6 weeks for it to fade
• if taking Accutane for acne treatment, wait until you have been off the medication for at least 6 months
• if currently plucking, waxing or threading to remove hair, stop for 3-4 weeks (shaving or cutting close to the surface is okay)

Meeting your needs

Since hair has to be in its first stage of growth for treatment to be successful, it generally takes a number of treatments spaced at intervals to achieve maximum results.

Most people need 6-8 treatments, provided about 4-8 weeks apart. At your initial consultation, we will look at several factors that affect how many treatments are necessary.
